Tool wear evaluation by stereo vision

Tool wear is common phenomenon is metal cutting. The cutting tools fail due to excessive shock and force, plastic deformation, or change in any of physical condition. Those breakage wear are very harmful for both machine and work piece. As you know, gradual wear cannot be totally eliminated but we can try to use stereo vision to evaluate the cutting edge of tool before defect occurs. The stereo vision is integrated by laser scanner and QR imaging algorithm. This tool wear evaluation provides more effective detecting method before cutting.
